During my recent summer surgery tour, I had the opportunity to meet with local residents alongside Councillor Tom Cooper to discuss road safety concerns along the A51, particularly the stretch through Clotton and Duddon.
Local residents are concerned that this stretch of road is unsafe, with frequent reports of excessive speeding. Of particular concern is the proximity of Duddon St Peter’s CofE Primary School, where parents and local residents have expressed understandable worry about the safety of children walking to and from school.
I share these concerns and understand the urgent need for action to ensure the safety of everyone who uses this road.
Tom and I want to hear your views. Do you think there should be additional signage and safety features in the vicinity of Duddon Primary School to make the area safer for children? Do you think the speed limit should be reduced on this stretch of road? Do you think there should be a speed camera in the local area? Let me know by filling in my survey and returning it to me, free of charge.
Councillor Tom Cooper and I will take the results of this survey to council officers to discuss and push for options that best meet the needs of local residents. We will keep you informed of any developments. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or my office at [email protected]
