The Member of Parliament for Chester South and Eddisbury, Aphra Brandreth, attended Girlguiding Cheshire Border's Thanks and Recognition event on Wednesday, 15th November, held at Wychwood Park Golf Club.
The event brought together volunteers, leaders, and supporters to celebrate the incredible achievements of Girlguiding members and recognise the dedication of those who make the organisation such an inspiring force in the community.
Girlguiding Cheshire Border covers most of east and south Cheshire and the MP took the opportunity to hear about some of Girlguiding's upcoming events, including a 'campfire circle' and expeditions with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.
Speaking after the event, Aphra Brandreth MP said:
"It was a great privilege to attend Girlguiding Cheshire Border's Thanks and Recognition event. The enthusiasm and commitment of the volunteers and leaders I met are a testament to the strength of this organisation and its positive impact on young women and girls in our community. Girlguiding provides some of my young constituents invaluable opportunities to grow, develop confidence, and take on leadership roles.
I was particularly inspired by the stories of service and the dedication shown by so many in supporting the next generation of leaders. A huge congratulations to everyone who was recognised at this wonderful event – our community is all the better for it."
Sharon Fraser, the County Coordinator at Girlguiding North West England commented after the celebration event:
"Congratulations to all who received long service awards, from 5 to 60 years, and those who received a good service brooch and thanks badges. Joan Walton and Pauline McKeoen received their 60 year long service awards from deputy chief guide Sally Kettle. A special congratulations to Karen Lynch on receiving The High Sheriff of Cheshire Award in recognition of great and valuable service to the community. County commissioner Linda and assistant county commissioner Pam would like to thank all the VIPs who attended the evening: Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, High Sheriff of Cheshire, MP Aphra Brandreth (MP for Chester South & Eddisbury, Mayor of Cheshire East, deputy chief guide - Sally Kettle, deputy region chief commissioner - Tracey Johnson.
