The MP for Chester South and Eddisbury, Aphra Brandreth, has welcomed a Cheshire businesswoman to Parliament to celebrate and champion women in business at an awards ceremony.
Aphra Brandreth MP attended the 'MP HERoes' event in the Houses of Parliament with her constituent, Dianne Worby, who runs the successful Global Air Training (GAT), based in Burwardsley. Successful businesswomen from across the country were nominated by their respective MPs and invited to Parliament for a roundtable discussion on empowering women in business, followed by a networking and celebration event in the House of Lords. The event is an annual cross-party programme supported by Savvitas and NatWest Group.
The nominated business, Global Air Training, specialises in the provision of Human Factor training to Aviation and Safety Critical Organisations and provides training courses to organisations in aviation, healthcare, and other safety and performance sectors. Their courses are designed to improve human factors and crew resource management skills, enabling employees to avoid and mitigate accidents and adverse events through enhanced communication, situational awareness, decision-making, and team interaction.
Under Dianne Worby, the company has grown in recent years to be an industry leader in the field, securing contracts with world-leading airlines as well as high-level military organisations such as NATO.
Commenting on the MP HERoes awards, Aphra Brandreth MP said:
'We need to do everything we can to encourage more women to go into business, so it was great to attend the MP HERoes awards to recognise successful businesswomen from across the country who have made some incredible achievements in setting up their own businesses.
I have run a small business myself and I know of the risks involved in getting set up and some of the hurdles which need to be overcome. Dianne has worked exceptionally hard over the years to set up her business in Cheshire, which is now recognised internationally.
I was blown away by the expertise and training that Global Air Training offer when I visited them in Burwardsley earlier this year and I am delighted that they have been officially recognised with this award. Well done to Dianne and the whole team.'
Dianne Worby said after receiving her award in Parliament:
'GAT's reputation for excellence and potential for future expansion continue to be sources of pride, inspiration, and motivation for me and my team, cementing GAT's status as a leader in Human Factors and Error Management training across multiple industries.
Winning the MP Heroes Award last week was a tremendous honour for me. It not only acknowledges the hard work and dedication put into making aviation safer but also serves as a validation of the significant impact GAT has had across multiple industries. This recognition from my local MP, Aphra Brandreth, underscores the importance of the error avoidance training and the role GAT plays in fostering safer practices globally, motivating the team to continue striving for excellence.
Participating in the round table debate in Parliament with other successful business women was both enlightening and enjoyable. It was an opportunity to share experiences and strategies for success, learning from peers who have navigated similar paths in their respective fields. The exchange of ideas was invigorating, reinforcing my belief in collaborative learning and the power of diverse perspectives in business. This event not only highlighted the collective achievements of women in business but also provided a platform for mutual growth and inspiration.'
